CHRIST PEOPLES ASSEMBLY
SPECIAL LIFE MIRROR FOR FATHERS DAY 2010
TOPIC: INFLUENCE OF FATHERS

Date: Sunday 20th June 2010.

Text: Gen18:17-19, IThess2:11, Eph6:4, Deut6:6-11, Psa44:1, Jere35:6-10, 18-19, Josh24:15, IKing15:3, IIKing15:1-3, IChr28:8-9, Prov1:1-9, Heb12:5-11.

Memory verse: As ye know how we exhorted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children. IThess2:11

Fathers have great influence, great influence, generational influence and influences of eternal values. Fathers’ influence positive or negative transcends influence on children, it covers influence on wives, mothers, communities, society at large and the church.

For this great influences fathers have to get their orientation right. The Bible recorded of king Abijah, ‘And he walked in all the sins of his father which he had done before him and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God as the heart of David his father. IKing15:3. Of Azariah, ‘And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord according to all that his father Amaziah had done. IIKing15:3. God the father of fathers and rewarder of fathers calls fathers to high responsibility of the highest standard.

A father is the head of the government of the home. He has authority to govern the house. He has authority of divine origination to build foundation of many generations starting from his home. The father is the head of the wife and the home. The head is a complex organ where the eyes, the mouth, the nose, the brain and more are located. As head therefore it is not surprising that to perform his God ordained role, the father is the eyes, mouth, brain etc of the home.

The father derive his position, authority, power, wisdom and knowledge from God the almighty and father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom13:1-2, Gen3:16, ITim3:4-5, Eph5:22-24. It is critical that the home, the church recognise and cooperate with the leadership authority of the fathers so that they will perform their duties with joy and not with grief. Heb13:17.

The fathers calling carries great and wide responsibilities hence to be true and successful father with its eternal reward you must anchor your very life and goings in the Lord Jesus Christ. Be a Christ person to the core and to the highest attainment. Your final score shall be determined by the way you diligently guide your household to be heirs of the kingdom of Christ. Matt16:26, Heb2:3, IThese5:9-10.

1.0 Fathers Be Christ Centered:
John14:6, 15:3-7, 16, Act10:2, IICor6:14-18, IJohn2:25, John15:13-14.
Let Christ the trainer of trainers train you ,let Christ the teacher of teachers teach you. Let Christ the father of fathers father you. Jesus said, ‘without me you can do nothing’ John15:5. Fathers, are you saved? If you are not saved, you and your home are not safe. Because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour. IPeter5:8.

Fathers know Jesus, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ that will power you to successful fatherhood. Phil3:8-9. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith Heb12:2. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by FAITH that ye being rooted and grounded in love, even love to your household Eph3:17, Col2:7. Build your home, operate your fatherhood on the foundation that is Jesus Christ who gave his life for our sins Gal1:4, Matt1:21, Rev1:5, IJohn1:7, Rom5:6-11.

Fathers make Jesus the Bishop and Shepherd of your soul. IPet2:25, Psa23. Fathers grow in grace, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Put on the whole armour of God and lead all yours in Christ. IITim2:1, IIPeter3:18.

The enormous responsibilities given to fathers can only be fully and successfully carried out in the Lord Jesus Christ who is the way, the truth, the answer, the Saviour, the great Shepherd, the teacher, counsellor, helper, protector, sustainer and everything to fathers. Act26:18, Isaiah11:2, John3:16, Lk4:18, John14:12-14. Without Christ father’s positive influence on his home will be hampered.

Fathers let your priority be very clear to everyone. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul. Matt6:33, 16:26, IJohn2:15-17, James4:4, Matt6:24. Fathers live your life with eternity in view. Titus2:12-15, Rev21:1-7. Prepare yourself and your household for the marriage supper of the lamb. Rev19:7-8.

...............to be continued.
