HOME GOING OF PASTOR JOHN OLANIYI
ADEWOYE
TRIBUTE FROM THE MISSION PRESIDENT OF
CHRIST PEOPLES ASSEMBLY
REV. SAMUEL O. OLUWATUNBI (Formerly Samuel Olatunji Fatunbi)
In the preamble to the constitution of Christ Peoples
Assembly Inc., we have the following extract.
WHEREAS:
1. By the intervention of God, one
Samuel Olatunji Fatunbi crossed the path of one John Olaniyi Adewoye in the
year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventy-Eight (1978) with the
gospel of God and with the testimony PUT ON HIS LIPS BY THE Holy Spirit, the
said Samuel Olatunji Fatunbi brought the said John Olaniyi Adewoye, a bound
smoker, to Christ and salvation.
2. Eager to increase his knowledge and
understanding of the Holy Scriptures, a bible study cell to ensure the
exposition of the Holy Bible to John Adewoye was introduced by Samuel, Olatunji
Fatunbi and with the passage of time, the said study cell of two grew into a moderate
assembly such that in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighty
One, the need to organize and formalize the assembly into a gospel Church under
the name Christ For All Peoples Ministry crystallized.
3. In the year of our Lord One Thousand
Nine Hundred and Eighty-Seven, the assembly took the decision to be formed and
incorporated into a full gospel Church and denomination for the propagation of the
Gospel of Christ and in pursuance of that made and adopted for itself this
Constitution.
Brother John was the first full time
worker of the Church. He was the one that opened up the Badagry Axis of the
Church after serving as the first Pastor of the Headquarter Church. He was the
Chairman of Marriage Committee of the Church. He served as the Chairman
Constitution Drafting Committee. He was a man of conviction and character, whom
the Lord used in building the Church on sustainable bases.
Little did I know that when we had a
long talk on phone this month that that will be the last conversation with him
on this side of eternity. It was an informative interaction. Surprisingly, we
also talked of when he exited the Church to continue the work of God in
independent capacity. The friendly talk, though innocently, had ingredients of
final time on the planet earth.
The Lord comforts his family, the Church, members of the
institution he established with the comfort of the Holy Spirit that passeth all
understanding in Jesus name.
From Rev. S. O.
Oluwatunbi.
Mission President.
