INTRODUCTION

The greatest event the entire creation is expecting is the soon coming of Christ. “ For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of Arch Angel and with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with Him in the cloud to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we be with the Lord” I Thes 4:16-17, Matt 24:30-31, 25:31-46, Rom 8:18-25.

After the apostles of Jesus our Lord watched live the dramatic ascension to heaven two Angels appeared unto them and said, “ Ye men of Galilee why stand ye gazing up into heaven, this same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall go come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven. Act 1:11.

The eternal truth is that Jesus is coming in a powerful glory and splendor that has never been known on earth to take His elect from this vile and corrupt earth so that they can be with Him forever. After this rapture those remaining on earth will enter a zone of suffering that was never known on earth.

Jesus is coming and He is coming soon, scoffers and mockers of these last days notwithstanding. One day Lot spoke to his sons in laws “ Up, get you out of this place, for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked with his sons in law.”Gen 19:14.

As we speak of the certainty of His coming mockers and scoffers look at us as if we are mocking. Peter the apostle said,”Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, working after their own lusts. And saying where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation (read II Peter 3:3-9).

The day of the Lord shall come like a thief in the night. Jesus said, “Behold I come like a thief, blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments lest he walk naked and they see his shame. Rev 16:15, I Thes 5:4.

The theme of this message is to remind us powerfully as never before to be prepared everyday for the coming of the Lord so that that day will not meet us as a thief in the night or caught us unaware. It is packaged so that we will not lose out. To lose out will be too tragic and a calamity that is not redeemable. I Thes 5:4. We earnestly desire that the Lord direct your hearts in the patient waiting for Christ. II Thes 3:5.

For the day is coming when the tares will be separated from the wheat, when the goats will be separated from the sheep, when the Lots of this world will be separated from the Lot’s wives that looked back, when two people will be on the same bed and one will be taken and the other left. And as it was in the day of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the son of man. See Luke 17:26-34, Matt 24, 12-13, 40-42.

This message did not only tell you to prepare, it did not only touch the critical areas of necessity to prepare but the message opens the crucial issue of how to prepare. The message finally draws the attention of the church; He wants to see at His coming. The Lord is looking at the church awaiting His coming. Eph 5:27.Blessed is that servant whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Luke 12:43.

1.0 Be Prepared
I John 3:2-3, I Thes 5:4-11, 15, Amos 4:12, Titus 2:11-14, II Peter 3:10-14, Matt 24:12-13, 42-51, Lk 17:32, Matt 16:24-27, Rev 1:4-8, Matt 6:33-34, II Cor 6:14-18, 7:1, II Tim 2:19-22, Mark 9:43-48.
Jesus the Lord said, “Therefore be ye ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Matt 24:44.
Paul wrote by the Holy Ghost for ye yourself know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. But ye are children of light and the children of the day , we are not of night, nor of darkness therefore let us not sleep as do others but let us watch and be sober. Read I Thes 5:2-5.
Therefore let us not sleep as others but let us watch and be sober I Thes 5:6.The call of God on every believer is to be prepared for the Lord’s coming. “For God has not appointed us to wrath but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us that whether we wake or sleep we should live together with him.
A student who refuses to prepare for exam is willingly putting himself on the list of failures. Amos said; “Prepare to meet your God.” Amos 4:12.
This place where Jesus Christ our Lord is taking us unto is a place of
· Mansions unknown on earth for its beauty and splendour. John 14:1-6
· No weeping, no sorrows, no sad parting, no unrighteousness, no calamity, no sickness, no want of any good thing, no death, no pain. Rev 21:1-4.
· Inheritance of all things. Rev 21:7.
· Where God dwells
· Where Jesus is the little light?
God gave His word concerning this place, He said, Behold I make everything new. Rev 21:5.
Preparing for His coming is preparing for this glorious place. No wonder our Lord Jesus Christ says seek ye first the kingdom of God. This is first thing first – Prepare for His coming.
Absolutely nothing should serve as obstacle for the true believer to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus said
- If your hand offend thee cut it off
- If your foot offend thee cut it off
- If your eyes offend thee pluck it out. Mark 9: 43-47
Refuse to stumble for what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange of his own soul? Read Matt 16:26-27.
Jesus is coming we read, “And every man that has his hope in him purifieth himself even as He is pure” I John 3:3.
Preparing for His coming starts the first day you became born again. And his preparation continues until the Lord comes and until you lay down your sword.
Apostle Peter summarises this preparation for the Lord’s coming when he wrote in 2 Peter 1:5-11
“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. “
Keep fit and keep your self ready for rapture.
Prepare for His coming, put on the whole armour of God. Eph 6: 10-18.

2.0 The Greatest Prayer and the greatest curse
II Tim 1:18, John 8:23-24, Titus 2:11-14, Mark 9:43-47
Paul spoke of all they that were in Asia turned away from him at a critical time that he needed their support. He mentioned Phygellus and Hermogenes as example of those who turned away from him. However he mentioned a person named Onesiphorus. This man did not turn away from him.
· He refreshed Paul
· He was not ashamed of Paul chains in prison
· He sought Paul diligently and located him
· He ministered many things to Paul.
What a great brother in Christ. What can Paul the prisoner do for this Christian of character! Paul prayed the greatest prayer for him. He prayed, “The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day.
Brethren the greatest prayer is that we may find mercy on that day! That is the greatest prayer for the man that offered greatest support in the hour of greatest need. Praise the Lord.
Heartily do I pray for you that you will not miss the mercy of God on that day. For many will come on that day and Jesus will say I know you not. Matt 7:23.
Pray that you will obtain mercy on the day. The economic meltdown had and is still robbing many of hard earned resources. It is putting many in economic jeopardy and dislocation but understand there is no calamity as missing the kingdom of Christ.
What then is the greatest curse?
Curses had wrecked many lives. Elisha cursed forty two children and they were torn by two bears.IIKing2:23-25 Today many are seeking deliverances from various curses. But what is the greatest curse as we have the greatest prayer.
The Pharisees as a group did not believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus one day told them, “Ye shall die in your sins, for if ye believe not that I am He. Ye shall die in your sins. Read John 8:24.
The greatest curse that can be placed on anyone is “Ye shall die in your sins” But Jesus came so that this curse will not be fulfilled in our lives. It is the greatest curse and it on everyone that turns away from Jesus Christ. Only in Jesus is the curse removed. Gal 3:13, Rev 22:3.
As you prepare for His coming the greatest prayer will be fulfilled in your life in Jesus name.

3.0 Be upwardly Inclined in Christ
Col 3:1-10, Matt 6:33-34, I Thes 5:16-18, II Tim 2:19-22, I Tim 6:6-12, II Thes 3:5, Phil 3:20 John 14:1-6, Matt 6:19-21.
If ye then be risen with Christ seek those things which are above when Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your attention on things above not on things on earth. Col 3:1-2.
The children of God are citizens of heaven operating on the planet earth. Heaven is our home hence the sane and most profitable thing to do is to be heavenly minded.
We are strangers and sojourners, aliens here on earth. We have but a fear weary days here, hence it is in the wisdom the Holy Spirit that we get our attention on high.
There are so much to gain when we are truly heavenly inclined. Let us list a few of the inestimable of the much gains in being upwardly or heavenly inclined
· Answers to prayer comes from there
· Power even power to make you supernaturally natural and be naturally supernatural.
· Wisdom to be wiser than our enemies, our teachers and the ancient.
· Protection and safety
· Anointing that break the yoke.
· Blessings
· Inspiration
· Our mansions are there
· Encouragement and enlargement
· Miracles, signs, wonders
· Companion with the trinity.
· Knowledge and understanding
· Direction
· Peace, joy , mercy, grace, victory
· There we have treasures unfold.
· Those things that the world cannot offer.
· Healing, deliverance and more.

What a glory to be heavenly inclined. Peter was walking on water as long as he was looking unto Jesus; the moment he looked back he began to sink. The earthly minded will sink in the troubled waters of the world.
Affection with those things above makes you a delight to God and brings God’s favour. Noah found favour with God as Lord set to destroy the earth.Gen 6:8, 7:1
Our Saviour, our maker, our eternal Father is above why then should we not seek those things that are above.
Mortify your deeds on earth. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these shall be added unto you. Matt 6:33, Col 3:5-10.
When your affections are on things above, you will be able to rejoice always, pray without ceasing and give thanks in all things I Thes 5:16:18.
When you set your attention on things above you will be contented with such things as you have. For we brought nothing into the world and it is certain that we can take nothing out of the world. Godliness with contentment is a great gain. Read I Tim 6:6-12.
As you seek those things that are above you will naturally be preparing for His coming and getting transformed into His image. You will become a vessel meet for the master’s use and prepare for every good work. Read II Tim 2:19-22.

4.0 INTO CHRIST’S IMAGE
I Cor 2:16, Phil 2:3-11, Rom 12:1-2, I Pet 1:15-16, I Pet 5:5-11, II Cor 5:17, Matt 11:29-30, Act 26:18, Matt 5:48, John 14:12, Lk 19:10, I John 3:1-8, I Cor 15:45-49, Rom 8:29, II Cor 3:17-18.
Man was originally made in the image and likeness of God. Unfortdunately man rejected this heavenly image and put on the earthly image. I Cor 15:47-48. The Bible says “ Adam lived and a hundred and thirty years and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image and called his name Seth.” Gen 5:3. Like begat like.
Then came Jesus Christ to bring us back to the image and likeness of God. Paul wrote, “Now this I say, brethren that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God neither doth corruption inherit corruption. I Cor 15:50.
Jesus came that men and women may return to the holy, heavenly victorious image of God. That is why the first encounter with Jesus is life saved from sin. For His name shall be called Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins.
The first step into His image is for the power of sin to be broken in our lives. Read Rom 6:12, 14, I John 3:5,8, Act 3:26. Sin shall not have dominion over you.
Sin ruins Ez 18:30
· Sin kills Rom 6:23
· Sin separates from God
· Sin gives devil, sickness, problems access
· Sin equals affliction
· Sin causes Adam to be thrown out of the Garden of Eden.
· Sin is the greatest calamity that befell the world.
· Sin is the problem, Jesus Christ is the answer.
Transforming to His image has stage I. That stage one is victory over sin. We are going to heaven of righteousness. The righteous God loveth righteousness. Psa 11:7. Stage II is having the mind of Christ.
Christ image is found in the mind of Christ and the Bible says we have the mind of Christ I Cor 2:16. Your greatest possession to navigate the turns and bends of life is to have the mind of Christ. With Christ mind you will change from glory to glory and put on the new creature life. II Cor 3:1, 8, Rom 8:29, II Cor 5:17.
The hallmark of Christ mind is Humility. The key manifestation of having Christ mind is humility.
Jesus said “For I am meek and lowly in heart. Matt 11:29
Paul wrote, let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God? But made himself of no reputation and took upon Him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of man. Phil 2:5-7
Peter wrote: Be clothed with humility I Pet 5:5-6. To be transformed to His image is to enter realm of humility. Mark 10:44, Matt 23:11.
To transform to His image, our Lord Jesus Christ offered more clues.
· Be ye holy for I am holy
· Be ye perfect as your heavenly father is perfect. I Pet 1:15-16, II Cor 7:1, Matt 5:48.
· The works that I do you will do also greater works you will do. Read John 14:12, Lk 19;10.
Transforming to His image must be the agenda of every believer. It is not an option but a necessity. Explore everyday how to be like Christ. This brings us to the immortal words we found in the Bible, love not the world.
5.0 LOVE NOT THE WORLD
I John 2:15-17, Rom 12:1-2, Col 3:1-11, II Tim 4:10, I Pet 2:11, Ecc 1:2,4, II King 17:15, Psa 4:2, 24:3-5, 39:5,6, Ecc 2:11, Matt 6:24, Lk 16:13, James 4:4, II Cor 6:14-18.
Demas was described as “Having loved this present world”. He loved relationship with the world and lost relationship with Christ. You can not serve God and mammon.
Demasic spirit is wrecking havoc in the church today. Multitudes in the valley of decision. Hell is harvesting more souls today as he showed the kingdoms of the world to many to win them into the love of the world.
The Bible told us satan showed Jesus the kingdom of this world and the glory (splendour) of it. But can not Win Christ for anything, there is nothing in the world to sway the Saviour and the Hope of the world to bow to satan. Matt 4:8-10.
“Love not the world neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world the love of the father is not in him. I John 2:15”. James the brother of Jesus Christ was even more blunt he wrote “Friendship with the world is enmity with God.” James 4:4.
Paul wrote: The world is crucified write me and I unto the world Gal 6:14.
Apostle Peter wrote, “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims abstain from fleshly things which war against the soul. The Lord Jesus Christ said of the disciples, “They are not of the world as I am not of the world.” John 17:14.
The Holy Ghost warned “Be not conformed to this world” Rom 12:2.But how are the mighty fallen and the weapons of war perish. Many started well and end in jeopardy because of things of the world. See II Sam2:19, 27.
Solomon spoke about this world after experiencing the fame, glory, splendour that rules and power brings. He said, vanity of vanities all is vanity. Ecc 1:2,4.
The Psalmist said that man at is best state is altogether vanity. Psa 39:5, 6, 11.Love not the world for all flesh is as grass and all the glory of men are the flower of the grass. Read Isaiah 40:6, I Pet 1:24.
Consider the story of the rich man and Lazarus. Consider also the story of the rich fool. The world indeed passes away and the lust dies off. Lk 12:16-21, Lk 16:19-26.
The Bible told us things that are in the world namely
Lust of the flesh
Lust of the eyes
Pride of Life I John 2:16
Examine yourself; free yourself with the help of the Holy Ghost in the faith of Jesus Christ. The flesh is not going anywhere hence refuse to allow the flesh to mislead you.
And the world passes away and the lust thereof but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. I John 2:17. We are in the last days, love not the world cling unto Jesus. Be a part of the church awaiting the coming of Christ.

6.0 A CHURCH AWAITING HIS COMING
Eph 5:27, Phil 3:20-21, Act 20:28, 26:18, II Tim 3:15, Act 12:5, Rev chapters 1, 2 & 3, I Thes 2:19-20, II Cor 6:14-18, 7:1, Rev 21:1-8, Matt 25:1-12.
The church is the Bride of Christ. The Lord has gone to prepare for His bride. A kind of place never known on earth.
The Lord will come for a glorious church not having sport or wrinkle or any such thing but that he should be holy and without blame. Eph 5:27.
Paul wrote to describe the church of Christ……….The house of God, The church of the living God, the ground and pillar of the truth. As the house of God, the church awaiting His coming must know that they are house of prayer. For my house shall be called the house of prayer says the Lord. Isaiah 56:7, Matt 21:13, I Thes 5:17,
The house of God
The church of the living God
The ground and pillar of truth.
The church awaiting His coming is the church of the living God not the church that holds the doctrine of Nicolatanes Rev 2:15. Not the church of prophetess Jezedbel Rev 2:20, Not the synagogue of satan Rev 3:9, Not the church of Laodelia that is neither cold nor warm. Rev 3:14-17.
A church awaiting His coming is that church that is ground of pillar of truth. A church that preach uncompromising truth. A church where darkness is alien.
The world is the parish of a church awaiting His coming. This gospel must reach the whole world, and then the Lord will come. Our effective evangelism will hasten His coming. Matt 28:19-20.
A church awaiting His coming will
· Stand in holiness Heb 12:14
· Demonstrate His power John 14:12
· Seek and save Lk 19:10
· Deliver from satan Act 26:18
· Prepare heaven bound souls. Act 4:12
· Involved in good works Matt 25:31-46, II Tim 2:21
Let us as the bride of Christ adorn ourselves awaiting the coming of our bridegroom who will take us to His heavenly home where we shall dwell forever. John 14:1-6. Blessed is that servant whom when his Lord cometh shall find so doing. Lk 12:43, Matt 24:46.

CONCLUSION

Your most serious assignment is to do everything to be fully prepared on daily basis for His coming. The greatest calamity is to lose out at His coming. The greatest success is to be counted worthy to go with Him.
Are you saved? Are you born again? Are you expecting His coming? Can you say you are being transformed to His Holy image? Will you see Jesus? Resolve today through the Holy Spirit that you will not be a looser in the final account of history.
