Message of the Day: Bethlehem literally meaning house of bread and also known as Ephrath was
not a stranger to land mark events. It was in this city Rachel a matriarch of
Israel died and was buried. It was called the city of David, where he was
anointed as king by Samuel. Prophet Micah in a most amazing accurate prediction
said Jesus would be born in this city that finally played host to the glorious
birth of Jesus the Son of God. It was in Bethlehem the bizarre and dastard act
of Herod of killing children of two years and under took place. Indeed Bethlehem-Ephrathath
or Bethlehem-Judah, the ancient city had come to be a city set on a hill that
could not be hidden.
Naomi and Ruth arrived the city of
Bethlehem and the whole city was moved for them. The city stood still at the
arrival of these two women representing the great divide: Naomi was a Jewess;
Ruth was a Moabitess, a Gentile. Their arrival was not an occasion to serve
discrimination purpose but the melting of the world into a people for a future
of a Saviour for the whole world. In our Lord’s triumphant entry to Jerusalem
the city was moved for him, however Naomi and Ruth had different reason for the
city of Bethlehem to be moved for them. The people asked is this Naomi?
We pray for you today the wind will
never run contrary to you and contrary wind will not touch you in Jesus name.
So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they
were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is
this Naomi? And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the
Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the LORD hath
brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD
hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me? Ruth 1:19-21.
For three days Israel was trekking
the wilderness without water. When they finally sighted water it turned out to
be bitter water. But the Lord that turned Mara to sweetness was there. Mara
became sweetness, the life of Naomi testified. Every Mara in our life takes a
new turn today and become sweet in Jesus name. Ruth became a maternal
progenitor of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What a blessed woman forever.
Ruth gave birth to Obed. Obed born Jesse. Jesse had eight sons. One of them was
David. David line produced Jesus who now had billions of children all over the
world.
From You to God: Great and glorious God, turn every Mara in my life into sweetness in
Jesus name.
Application: Believe God to sing new songs in Jesus name.
Foot Note: Mara cannot endure with God, it gives way to
sweetness.
