DRUNKENNESS

Opening Verse: Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Proverbs 20:1

Bible Text: Proverbs 23:29-35

More Texts: Gen 9:21-23; 19:31-36; 1Sam 25:36-38; 2Sam 11:13; 13:28; 1Kings 20:16-21; 25:36-38; Pro 31:4; Isa 28:7; Hos 4:11; Hab 2:15; 1Cor 6:9-10; Gal 5:19-21

Message of the Day: If you want to mock yourself, then be given to the bottle. Did not Noah mocked himself when in drinking stupor he naked himself and Ham saw him in this unfortunate state. He bore the shame, Ham bore the curse, both developments are nothing to envy. Wine is personification of a mocker, keep a distance to it. Strong drink lifts into momentary madness. Psychotic trauma maketh to rage. No one will want to be a Psychiatric patient. Strong drink is raging the bible says. Maintain your sanity, distance yourself from strong wine. Strong drink lifts into pedestal of deceit. They that are given to it are fools walking in the path of foolishness. For whosoever is deceived by strong drink is not wise. Why should you choose to be unwise in this world where you are to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves? Wisdom is the principal thing, don’t seek foolishness. Many are the woes of the foolish. They err through wine.

Some of the earthly afflictions of drunkards: defined and undefined woe, sorrow, contentions, babblings, wounds without cause, redness of eyes and of course more. Drunkenness is an invitation to premature death. A life given to wine and mixed wine is being driven into hopelessness. No one who died a drunkard shall inherit the Kingdom of God, he or she had chosen to live eternity in hell and lake of fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Why will anyone choose such deadly irrecoverable end? Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Proverbs 23:31-32.

Another unfortunate and serious thing about drunkenness observed by the Scriptures is its inseparable link with adultery or immorality in general sense. That is, drunkenness moves her victim from the frying pan into fire. Drunkenness causes the heart to be full of perverse things that promote blasphemy and evil communications. Drunkenness leads people into odd behaviours. Drunkards are insensitive to shame or at least pretend to be. Drunkenness builds addicts; it deadens conscience and the nervous system. It strains and stresses the body system. Drunkards are destroying the sacred temple of God which is the body of man. The bible says these of the state of drunkenness: Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again. Proverbs 23:33-35.

From You to God: My God, keep my life free from all that is vile in Jesus name.

Application: The vices of the age must not stick to you.

Foot Note: Drunkenness is digging self grave venture.
