Message of the Day: Paul noticed that in the Church
of Corinth there were signs of people developing obstinacy in wrong doings. In
rounding up his second letter he addressed this issue with solid admonitions.
Deceitfulness of sin drags down and establishes hardness of heart that the
devil can easily help into strongholds of deeds completely contrary to God.
Many have been victims of this process. We shall not be victims in Jesus name.
We are looking into one of these critical rounds up admonitions to help us in
the way of victory to the end.
Examine
yourself is what we are considering today. Make it a regular routine to examine
yourself. Many as a matter of routine examine themselves again and again in the
mirror and get things right for outing. If we can go this length on the
physical body that perishes how much more on that which pertaineth to eternity?
Examine your spiritual life. Establish and re-establish that you are soundly in
faith. Stand tall and strong in the Lord. Be grounded and settled in Him who is
the only way unto eternity. Be sure you are not a reprobate. Be sure you are
not treading the path of obstinacy that drives more and more into
ungodliness. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your
own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you,
except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians
13:5.
Examine yourself as a regular routine and become confident to shame the
devil and honour God by your life. Hear the testimony and purpose of heart of
David: Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the
night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that
my mouth shall not transgress. Psalm 17:3.
Call upon God to help you in this matter of examining self to stand firm
and sure in the faith lest there be a missing of the mark. Pray this prayer and
sing it in song if you know the chorus: Search me, O God, and know my heart:
try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24.
Prophet Jeremiah who had watched his nation suffering severe afflictions
on account of misdeeds made this global call in his book of
lamentations: Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.
Lamentations 3:40. Prophet Haggai speaking the mind of God wrote: Now
therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Haggai 1:5.
From You to God: Lord God, help me that I
will never neglect the need to examine my self in the faith in Jesus name.
Application: Examining yourself in the faith is
your edge against failure.
Foot Note: God wants His children to be
lively and vibrant in the faith.
